A glance at the last quarter………
“I was in search of myself,
Till I started to loose myself in loving others,
And now that I have started to give,
I have finally found a reason to live”
: Me
To spread love and smiles, to extend a supporting hand and to facilitate independence by teaching and mentoring – is what we at Sadbhavna endeavor and strive to do. It’s amazing that in a short span of a year and a half, Sadhbhavna has grown into a family of almost 30 beautiful members.
Let’s stop for a while and glance back at how we have spent the past few months with our “Flowering Buds”:
April: “The Monsters called Exams are finally over”
Freedom!! That was the flavor of the month. The kids got over with their exams and it was time for them to unwind. And we thought of doing something in tune with that so that the kids could relax and rejuvenate.Luckily, we had a Japanese Official with us who offered to spend some of his time with our kid and taught them Origami - Japanese art of making hats using paper. Next in queue was Jab We Met (do I see you all smiling!!!). Needless to say, the kids and the volunteers had a ball in that session.
May: “Celebrating Success, Rewarding Talent”
The kids got their results and we feel proud as we say we have a very talented lot with us. This session stared with prize distribution where our chief guests – Ms.Manisha Nandwani & Ms.Meenu Jeet rewarded the achievers by giving them watches and certificates. The kids then played Passing the Parcel, which was followed by a festive lunch especially organized for the occasion.
Shooting Star
Shilpi, who scored 95%, was presented with a bicycle. We, at Sadbhavna would take this opportunity to thank our volunteers – Varun and Pankaj for bringing a smile on the child’s face by acknowledging her achievement.
June: “Giving wings to Imagination”
With a belief that each human being has a talent and if given appropriate opportunities and some time, these talents can be unleashed and honed, we decided to make the session creative. For the grown up kids we had creative writing activity in which, Shivam was the most outstanding kid. For younger lot, we had planned coloring activity. The kids were given figures which they colored as they wanted. The grown up kids drew and colored the figures according to their choice.Later, these figures were cut and made into a collage. The idea was to teach the children that “Together we can create a world full of love”. The kids that outshined in this activity were Aarti & Kamini. The kids were also taught morals wherein the intention was to help each child recognize the importance of being honest and empower each to differentiate between right and wrong. Finally, we ended the beautiful day with lovely lunch being served in the canteen and as I am writing this I am also longing to meet the kids again….
Its time to say goodbye to you all till we meet next….But I am leaving you all with a little thought to ponder over:
“If I am not for myself,
Who will be for me?
If I am not for others,
What am I?
And if not now,
Then when?”
