ABN AMRO:
Banking on NEWGEN CTS and BPM
Solution
NEWGEN
won an order from another major bank, ABN AMRO Bank (India) for its
CTS solution. Thus,
NEWGEN has truly established itself as a leading Cheque Truncation
solution provider in the Indian market.
ABN
AMRO wanted a suitable CTS solution, which would not only help the
bank to comply with the regulatory requirement but also be able
to seamlessly integrate with multiple back-end applications. In
addition, the bank wanted a solution to help in the automation of
Account Opening process and Private Client Help Desk

of processes. NEWGEN successfully demonstrated the ease of
parameterized workflow for complying with the RBI CTS guidelines and
use of the same platform to demonstrate automation of Account
Opening and Private Client Help Desk
processes.
Among
the benefits, the solution would help the bank comply with

same investment can distribute among various business groups by
providing them the BPM platform, which can be used for automation of
other processes.
NEWGEN’s expertise in
BFSI domain, integration capabilities with other standard

CTS
Implementation Starts at Karnataka Bank: December 31 Deadline
Getting Closer
With
the proposed RBI deadline of December 31, 2006 approaching fast, all
the banks are revving up the implementation of Cheque Truncation
solution.
As a part of its IT initiative
and RBI’s directive, Karnataka bank will introduce Cheque Truncation
System (CTS) at 16 branches in National Capital Region. Out of
these, 13 branches are in Delhi and one each in Noida, Gurgaon and
Faridabad.
A designated service branch,
employing ChequeFlow Professional, will handle the cheque clearing
for cheques deposited at all the branches in Delhi, whereas the
branches in Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad, employing ChequeFlow Lite,
will independently handle the outward processing and clearing of the
cheques. Subsequently, it will be extended to other parts of the
country as per RBI stipulations.
Karnataka
Bank chose Newgen for the unique-solution approach, domain expertise
and exhaustive implementation experience in BFSI and ease of
solution deployment. The solution would be integrated with the core
banking system, Finacle, at Karnataka Bank.
The
CTS implementation is in line with the constant endeavor of the bank
to provide better services to the customer. The solution would
enable the bank to clear cheques extremely fast through a
streamlined process, thus bringing direct benefits to the customers.
CTS
is an image-based cheque clearing system, which replaces the
physical cheque flow with electronic information flow throughout
clearing cycle. NEWGEN offers ChequeFlow Professional for handling
high volume of cheques and ChequeFlow Lite for individual branches
handling smaller volumes of cheques. CTS offers pre-configured
workflow for inward and outward clearing, comprehensive archiving,
indexing and image-retrieval capabilities, flexible and easy-to-use
workflow designer and scanning facilities. In addition, it also
offers an interactive interface and comprehensive analysis and
report-generation capabilities.
Karnataka
Bank has over 82 years of experience in providing professional
banking services and quality customer services with a network in
excess of 398 branches, across 18 states and 2 Union Territories.

OmniReports Powers the Superior Performance at Tata Tele Services
Limited
Tata
Tele Services Limited (TTSL) has been using Newgen OmniReports to
centrally generate and store its inter-carrier billings and
inter-carrier vigilance reports. A central server, located in
Hyderabad, stores this data for all the 20 circles spread across
India in which TTSL operates.
In
order to meet SLA norms and TRAI guidelines, TTSL has to regularly
index the data stored at the central OmniReports server. With the
increase in volume of operations, the single OmniReports server was
proving inadequate as regular indexing was taking a large amount of
time. TTSL wanted a solution to quickly improve the performance of
its inter-carrier billings operations.
Newgen
provided the solution in form of another OmniReports server and
additional licenses for administrative users. The solution has not
only provided the necessary boost to the performance of the system
but also enables TTSL to keep complying with mandatory regulations.
TTSL
is part of the Tata Group, a conglomerate with revenues of
Rs.799,118 million (US$17.8 billion), that has 93 companies, over
2,15,000 employees and more than 2 million shareholders.
Incorporated in 1996, TTSL was the first company to launch CDMA
Mobile services in India starting with the Andhra Pradesh circle.
The company offers services under the brand name 'Tata Indicom' in
20 Indian circles, and has a rapidly growing customer base of over
2.68 million.

Indian
Software Products : Take-off
Ready
If
technology, finance and marketing are the three pillars on
which products rest, Indians mostly never had the vision that
all of them might be required to build a superstructure. That
spurned off many problems, begetting the anecdote of a country
that was the 'graveyard of innovative pilots'; a place
where most product companies never survived beyond their first
birthday. Hopefully, this is now passé.
