The Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank(ing) on Workflow and Document Management solution from Newgen Software
With its focus on delivering quality customer service by leveraging technology, The Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank Ltd. recently decided to rope in Newgen solution for taking its processes beyond mere automation and making the bank the preferred choice for the customers.
With an increase in number of customers, the bank realized that a complete end-to-end automation was an imminent need. Physical documents travelled from branches to central/head office. This was not only time consuming, but also presented challenges in storing, archiving and maintaining information security. The bank proposed that it would need an enterprise-wide system, which is fast, seamless and robust. Regular scanning, storing and retrieving of document images would be needed. In addition, the bank also required a Loan Application Approval system.
Newgen Software proposed a comprehensive solution exactly fitting to the bank’s need. The solution is based on OmniFlowTM, OmniDocsTM and OmniCaptureTM.
The processes of the bank would be automated by mapping them into OmniFlowTM, using which documents would be routed from one user to another along the process flow. All the documents would be stored in the central repository, and scanning would be facilitated at all the branches from where the documents would be scanned, indexed and sent to the central office.
The solution has been customized to suit the bank’s need. This includes document-search capabilities based on predefined index fields, tighter version control, and specific workflow and collaboration capabilities, in addition to rules definition.

A conference titled, “From Cost Arbitrage to Value Creation Through Service Excellence”, was recently organized by ASSOCHAM. Decision makers and top executives from top Indian and International BPOs participated at the conference.

Andhra Bank Decides to Deploy Newgen Check Truncation Solution
Amidst several other wins, Newgen Software registered another win in Check Truncation space with Andhra Bank placing an order for Newgen Check Truncation Solution (CTS).
To begin with, Newgen CTS would be deployed at the bank’s branches in New Delhi. The solution comprising ChequeFlowTM would be used for Outward Clearing and Inward Clearing processes of the bank.

CDSL Ventures Limited Launches Mutual Fund Identification Number Service using Newgen Solution
Starting January 1 2007, investments of more than Rs. 50,000 by individuals or corporates in mutual funds would require quoting of an identification number, Mutual Fund Identification Number (MIN). The service launched by CDSL Venture Ltd. (CVL), a subsidiary of Central Depository Services Ltd. (CDSL), uses Newgen solution for the same.
An investor has to provide KYC (Know Your Customer) details only once while applying for MIN. After being assigned a unique MIN, the investor would be able to invest in various mutual fund schemes of various houses, without going through the hassle of providing KYC details every time.

Newgen Software to Power Check Truncation at Bank of Baroda
With a number of emphatic wins in both Indian and International markets for its Check Truncation System (CTS) solution, Newgen Software added another prestigious client in the form of Bank of Baroda.
RBI, the central bank in India, has mandated the implementation of an image-based check clearing solution. Bank of Baroda, after rigorous evaluation of several CTS solution vendors, chose Newgen Software as the solution provider.
A number of factors contributed to Newgen Software’s winning the order. The CTS solution is based on the BPM platform. The bank already employs Newgen Software’s Document Management and Business Process Management solutions for its Retail Banking and Corporate Banking processes. This makes the users at the bank familiar with software screens, and therefore, they would require considerably less time to get familiar with the CTS solution.
In addition, unparalleled flexibility also made the bank choose Newgen Software. The ability to integrate and connect with any Check scanner and flexible deployment model suited bank’s requirements fully. Also, the hardware-agnostic approach of Newgen Software was a major draw for the bank.
