The year, 2005 was an eventful one for NEWGEN. The company in the last twelve months consolidated significant gains and experienced new opportunities as an Indian software product company. NEWGEN bagged the prestigious “Distinguished Application Product Company” award at the Product Summit: 2005, hosted by NASSCOM, and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), at Bangalore. NEWGEN OMNI product suite comprising of OmniFlow (BPM), OmniDocs (DMS), OmniReports, OmniCapture, and OmniExtract, moved ahead into newer verticals like Airlines, Utilities and E-Governance (Transport Department and Estate Office). The company made inroads into Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa. NEWGEN has presence in more than 20 countries and is now looking at emerging markets to expand its business further. As part of their international marketing strategy, NEWGEN is working towards forming alliances with local firms that have a feel for market requirements in these areas. In the domestic market, NEWGEN made further headway into banking, insurance, manufacturing and telecom. Deustche Bank, Bajaj Allianz, ICICI Prudential, Essar Steel, Sony India, Idea Cellular, Hutch India were some critical wins in the face of stiff competition from foreign companies. The year marked the release of newer, better versions of NEWGEN products for contemporary and future requirements of the companies. Prominent among these were OmniFlow 6.1, OmniDocs 3.5.4 R3, OmniScan 1.1.6, Record Management System 1.3, Knowledge Management System 2.0, OmniReports 3.4 and SmartStatements 3.4. NEWGEN also carried forward two new solutions, Cheque Truncation System (CTS), for Banking, and Newgen Compliance Manager (NCM), for Corporate Governance, and got excellent response. For the first time NEWGEN organized a User Group Meet. NEWGEN felicitated its valued customers and acknowledged their contribution in making NEWGEN solutions a success. NEWGEN actively participated in Shared Service Asia Summit at Singapore. The company showcased its prowess in the BPM, Workflow, Document Management System (DMS) and Imaging domains, at the 25th Gitex Exhibition held in Dubai, and in a seminar organized by NEWGEN Partner - UF Financial Software System Co, at Beijing, China. As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programme, NEWGEN, co-sponsored ‘Sammy’, a play based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The proceeds of the play went for post-tsunami rehabilitation of orphaned children, a project undertaken by Prayas, an organization for destitute children. NEWGEN Enters Banking Space in Taiwan; to Implement Omni Suite at Hua Nan Commercial Bank

Hua Nan Commercial Bank Ltd. has decided to implement NEWGEN OMNI suite, comprising of OmniFlow, OmniDocs and OmniCapture, for its Customer Utility Bill Processing system.

OmniDocs will be used to centrally archive customer agreements and would be accessible from 180 branches across Taiwan. The bank would use OmniCapture to scan and release new bills to a central processing site in Taipei, where OmniFlow will be used to track delays and exceptions.

Keeping in mind the flexibility and robustness of NEWGEN products, Harmonation, a strong systems integrator, based out of Taiwan, decided to implement the solution at Hua Nan Commercial Bank.

This will be the first international end-to-end implementation in traditional Chinese for OmniFlow version 6, using JBoss Application server.

Hua Nan Commercial Bank Ltd. was established in 1919 under Japanese governance with its head office in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Canton, Singapore, Semarang and Tokyo. The Bank was founded by Mr. Lin Hsiung-cheng, and several South-East Asian, overseas Chinese investors. The bank was completely privatized in 1998. The bank has a total capital of NT$37,091 million (2001), and became a subsidiary of Hua Nan Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. in the same year.

Deutsche Bank Selects NEWGEN for BPA (Business Process Automation) of its Retails Operations in India

Deutsche Bank has opted for NEWGEN OMNI suite for workflow automation of its Retail banking operations. The proposed solution would automate 19 key processes using OmniFlow (BPM platform), OmniDocs (end-to-end DMS solution) and OmniCapture (bulk scanning utility).

The workflow automation system will be spread across most of the key operations of the Bank. The bank, based out of Mumbai, would be able to manage operations from different channels including Branch, Regional Processing Center and National Processing Center.

Deutsche Bank decided to expand its operations in India by offering a wide spectrum of Retail banking services. This project, which is a private-and-business-clients project, would build Deutsche Bank’s retail banking operations in India, through the green field approach. Using NEWGEN solution, Deutsche Bank would be able to establish a centralized processing center for efficient and effective processing of liabilities and asset products. This would result in leaner and more efficient headquarters and inculcate a strong, customer-focused sales culture.

By using Document Imaging, combined with Workflow solution, the scanned images of the documents would instantaneously provide all customer information. This would also drastically cut down the courier costs, turnaround time, and would result in quicker and better customer service.

NEWGEN OmniFlow to help Automate RTO Madhya Pradesh

NEWGEN, along with Smart Chip limited (SCL), has been picked up to automate the workflow at the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department (MPTD). The project involves automating the processes pertaining to issuance of Learning License, Driving License, and Vehicle Registration Certificate.

SCL, has already implemented front-end activities of Smart Card Issuance, along with Tax Management, Cash Receipt Generation, Permits Management and Challan Management System. Smart Chip Ltd. is already managing the smart card generation and various applications at MPTD using their custom application. However, this application does not contain any workflow solution.

With NEWGEN OmniFlow the solution provided to MPTD will also include a workflow solution making it a comprehensive solution for MPTD to increase its operational efficiency.

NEWGEN OmniFlow along with the application developed by Smart Chip will be deployed at 45 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in Madhya Pradesh. The implementation will automate the various processes at MPTD’s RTOs and also automate different processes pertaining to issuance of Learner License, Driving License, Registration of Certificate, Permit, NOC, etc.

The current application developed by SCL needed to be integrated with OmniFlow to provide the required workflow automation at transport department. For this, the following has been decided:

· OmniFlow desktop client will be used and the forms in the current application will be used in a custom work desk developed by SCL for the same.

· The current application would be updated and modified to ensure one-to-one correspondence between an application (work item) and data being displayed or edited in the forms at a particular work step.

The project is presently under development and the first two processes namely, Vehicle Registration Certificate and Permit, would go live by 15th January 2006, at Bhopal RTO. Thus Smart Card based transactions will get automated. The solution will be replicated at other 45 locations, and the entire project is expected to be live by 31st March 2006.
