Newgen
conducts seminar on Corporate Governance in association with ASSOCHAM
Newgen,
in association with ASSOCHAM, organized a seminar titled "Corporate
Governance: The Changing Landscape" in association with ASSOCHAM. The
seminar was aimed at addressing the concerns of CEOs and CFOs in wake of
the new requirements for Corporate Governance under Clause 49 of SEBI's listing agreement.
Mr. Diwakar Nigam, MD, Newgen
Software Technologies, elaborated the new issues arising due to the
implementation of Clause 49, and how Business Process Management (BPM) can
be the most powerful and versatile tool for today’s CEOs and CFOs to
address these new issues.
"In
the present scenario, CEO's have a tough time managing quarterly
performances, fighting competition, and creating shareholder value. In
fact, they have little time left for other critical corporate issues. Now,
in the changing face of corporate governance, they will be further burdened
with explicit accountability of internal controls and risk mitigation
within the organization. We see the need for a comprehensive business
process management solution as the only way out." Mr. Nigam said.
A
number of experts from different fields were present on the occasion. These
experts put forward multifarious issues and dynamics involved in Corporate
Governance, the challenges it presents in today’s business environment and
ways to tackle these challenges.

Newgen’s OmniDocs
implemented at Operational & Logistics Directorate
Operational
& Logistics Directorate has decided to implement Newgen’s
OmniDocs, a robust, flexible and proven DMS
solution for managing and maintaining their documents, dak
and internal data. This will significantly bring down the turnaround time
for file and dak processing, to the tune of few
hours. Earlier, it took days due to the delay involved in manual process.
The
Directorate handles huge volume of data, stored in the form of thousands of
documents. Apart from handling official and administrative documents,
regular dak (mail) received also needs to be
managed effectively.
Right
now, all type of documents, whether administrative, dak
or any other, are maintained as hardcopy, attached in a file. The flow of
information from one department or location to other involves physical
movement of files. Manual process inherently involves slow movement of
information, and thus, resources remaining idle for want of information.
Administrators at Operational & Logistics Directorate felt that
unavailability of timely information was a big hindrance for optimum
utilization of their resources.
To
automate the manual process, Newgen, in collaboration with CMC, is
implementing OmniDocs and WhiteHall
filing system, at Operational & Logistics Directorate. The solution,
once implemented, will automate the entire document, dak
and data management system.
All the
documents are available round-the-clock to be viewed and information can be
obtained instantly for optimum utilization of resources. To further
leverage the capabilities of the system, DMS will be integrated with other
applications like Leave Record management, Part I orders, etc., being
developed by CM.

Tata Tele Services Ltd.
implements Newgen’s DMS in additional circles
Tata Tele Services Limited (TTSL),
Hyderabad
recently placed an order for upgrading to OmniDocs
Enterprise Server from OmniDocs Professional
Server.
The Hyderabad corporate
office of TTSL was facing the problem to support a large number of
concurrent users and a deluge of documents, the CAFs
(Customer Acquisition Forms), to be processed. These demands of huge
document load and accessibility of these documents could not be addressed
with the existing OmniDocs Professional Server.
Newgen
provided robust solution in form of OmniDocs
Enterprise Server, which provided support to 35 (existing) + 60
(additional) concurrent users. In addition, one more server was configured
to store the large number of CAFs. Document
access for user would be seamless. The user would access the main server only, however the CAFs can be
stored on other server also.
In
addition, Newgen also provided a comprehensive custom-report utility, which
provided the facility to generate a host of customized reports. These
reports are used to get details of uploaded CAF information for entire
Andhra Pradesh region, the Hyderabad circle
or any cluster such as Vijayavada, Vishakhapatnam, etc., within the Hyderabad circle.
The
customized reports can be generated to obtain details of CAFs uploaded for a particular day and for specific
period of days. Further, the customized reports also provide the count of
number of CAFs uploaded based on different
parameters.
TTSL is
part of the Tata Group, a congloromate
with revenues of Rs.654,240 million (US$14.25 billion),
that has over 90 companies, over 2,20,000 employees and more than 2.16
million shareholders. Incorporated in 1996, TTSL was the first company to
launch CDMA Mobile services in India in the Andhra Pradesh
circle. The company offers services under the brand name 'Tata Indicom' in 20 Indian
