iView goes live at SEC Philippines
Towards
realizing the holistic goal of bringing transparency, accountability and
fairness in companies’ financial reporting, the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC), of Philippines is working on a project named iReport.
In
phase I of the project, ‘iView’, has been
launched. ‘iView’ allows
the companies and public not only to view company records and reports filed
with the SEC via the Web but it also enables them to fetch these documents.
Thus, any one can access ‘iView’ by logging on to
the ‘iView’ home page by registering there.
Thus,
within the iReport service is ‘iView’, an online system that allows the general public
to view and print company reports for a fee. All of these functions can be
done in registered users’ office, home, or any other location with Internet
access.
iReport, once
fully implemented, will facilitate online submission of corporate
registration documents and reports. Monitoring and evaluation of corporate
performance through corporate reporting, enforcement of policies to which
corporate houses should comply with and subsequent actions if they fail to
do so will also be facilitated by iReport. A
Web-based access to corporate information and e-based executive
decision-making, planning and control, among several other tasks will also
be done by the system.
In
phase I, NEWGEN implemented OmniDocs, its
flagship document management solution (DMS). Documents that had been
scanned earlier were stored in OmniDocs and were
made available online for viewing on iReport
portal.
The
phase II of the project will primarily encompass the implementation of
online submission and paper submission of documents. NEWGEN will play a key
part in this implementation.
During
phase III of the project, the departmental workflows will also be
automated. OmniFlow will be able to route the
reports to the appropriate users for their processing. The flexibility of
the workflow will enable integration with various systems and taking a
routing decision intelligently.
The
project has been awarded to a consortium comprising of Oracle, SXi and NEWGEN, and being led by SUN Microsystems,
Philippines. The project primarily involves a portal to be developed for
SEC for the purpose of SEC registered companies to view and print the
audited financial statements and other documents of various companies
operating in Philippines.
SXi, which is a business
associate of NEWGEN, will implement the overall project using OmniDocs and OmniFlow as the
DMS and Workflow engines.
Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) promotes the development of a globally
competitive capital market, effectively regulate and monitor its
operations, and widely disseminate reliable information for the protection
of the investing public.
