The
flavor of the month was EMEA.
The
contract to implement EDMS, at the Bank of Tanzania, established Newgen,
as a leading solution and services provider, in the EMEA region. The
solution will support 700 users, across 15 functions and 4 locations and
will be implemented within 4 months.
Also,
Newgen successfully participated and showcased its prowess in the BPM,
Workflow, Document Management and Imaging domains at the 25th Gitex Exhibition held in Dubai. The exhibition proved to be a
perfect platform for Newgen to establish a strong foothold in Middle East.
Newgen
participated in a seminar organized by Newgen's
Partner - UF Financial Software System Co at Beijing, China.
Newgen is keenly focusing on Greater China and sees it as a long-term
relationship with high and immediate value-add to Chinese companies,
partner and itself.

Finance, commonly known as UFIDA, is China's largest ERP company
employing more than 5000 people. The company’s division, UF Finance,
focusing on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector, is
amongst the leading Chinese companies in Insurance.
Newgen
intends to leverage its expertise to provide best-of-breed Insurance
solution to Chinese Insurance companies for both Life and non-Life
insurance. Top thirty insurance companies attended the seminar.
Another
leading telecom major, Idea Cellular, decided to install OmniReports.
Due
to Idea’s large customer base, huge amount of data is generated. The
solution, in the form of OmniReports, is an
Enterprise Report Management (ERM) platform that captures report-output
of business applications and converts them into compressed digital files
to be archived, indexed, accessed and searched electronically.

Newgen
wins order to implement EDMS at Bank of Tanzania
Last
month saw Newgen winning another big order in EMEA region – Bank of
Tanzania awarded the project to Newgen to implement EDMS in the bank.
This
contract from Bank of Tanzania is a landmark in Newgen’s
efforts in establishing the company as a leading solution and services
provider in the EMEA region.
Also,
it is the biggest EDMS implementation order for Newgen, globally. The
solution will support 700 users, across 15 functions and 4 locations, and
will be implemented within 4 months. Newgen won the contract amidst the
stiff competition from big players like Documentum
and Laserfiche.
The
Bank has its headquarters in Dar-es-Salaam city
center, with Branches in Arusha, Mbeya, Mwanza and Zanzibar. The
Training Institute is located in Mwanza. The
structure of the Bank of Tanzania is built around primary and subsidiary
functions of the bank.
In
accordance with this new framework, there are eleven Directorates, i.e.,
Banking, Banking Supervision, Economic Policy, Finance, Financial Markets,
Management Information Systems, Personnel and Administration, Training
Institute and Secretary to the Bank. Others are National Payments Systems
and Microfinance.
The
bank is guided by its underlying commitment to have price stability over
time. This is reflected in the Bank of Tanzania Act, 1995 as, "The
primary objective of the Bank shall be to formulate and implement monetary
policy, directed to the economic objective of maintaining price stability,
conducive to a balanced and sustainable growth of the national economy of Tanzania".

Newgen
creates waves at Gitex 2005
As part
of its plan to establish itself as a leading IT solution and services
provider in the EMEA region, Newgen successfully participated and showcased
its prowess in the BPM, Workflow, Document Management and Imaging domains
at the 25th Gitex Exhibition held in Dubai.
Newgen
stall was hub of activity with a large number of business visitors making
it a point to visit the stall. There were a number of meaningful business
enquiries, which are expected to culminate in orders.
Banks
and Governments in the Middle East region
are planning to invest in IT in a big way. Newgen is ideally placed to
cater to customers’ need in these sectors as it has already implemented
solutions for leading banks and Government projects throughout the world.
Gitex-Gulf Information Technology
Exhibition was held from 25th to 29th September 2005 at Dubai World
Trade Center.
Gitex is among the top three IT exhibitions in
the world. The exhibition attracted more than 1,163 exhibitors from over
2724 companies spread across the globe. Gitex has
gained great importance due to burgeoning spread of IT in the Middle East
and Africa.
The
exhibition attracted companies from all wakes of IT industry such as IT
Equipments & Systems, Telecommunication Wireless & Networks, Software
& Services, and Banking Technology & Financial Services. The
Exhibition was covered extensively in both Print and Electronic media.

Continuing
its strategy of gaining more visibility globally, Newgen accepted an
invitation to participate in a seminar organized by Newgen's
Partner - UF Financial Software System Co at Beijing, China
on 20th August. Newgen is keenly focusing on Greater China and sees it as a
long-term relationship with high and immediate value-add to Chinese
companies, partner and itself.
UF
Finance, commonly known as UFIDA, is China's largest ERP company
employing more than 5000 people. The company’s division, UF Finance,
focusing on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector, is
amongst the leading Chinese companies in Insurance. The company has an
established and proven accounting package and intends to partner with
Newgen to sell Insurance solutions in China.
Delivering
the keynote address, Newgen Vice-President, Mr. Punit
Jain, stressed on the benefits that small and large Insurance companies
have achieved using Newgen products. This has been possible due to
expertise of Newgen in developing and implementing Business Process
Management (BPM) workflows integrated with Document Management and Imaging.
Newgen
intends to leverage its expertise to provide best-of-breed Insurance
solution to Chinese Insurance companies for both Life and non-Life
insurance. This would result in accelerated economic growth and expansion
of Newgen as well as partner companies. The address was well received by
the representatives of various insurance companies.
The
seminar was presided over by Mr. Li You, President of UF Finance. Around 30 leading insurance companies in China
participated in the seminar.

Idea
places order for implementing OmniReports
Idea
Cellular Limited, a leading cellular services provider in India,
decided to install OmniReports.
Due to
Idea’s large customer base, huge amount of data is generated. The company
was finding it difficult to maintain the archived data having ‘Call’
details of various streams such as post-paid, prepaid and GPRS.
Moreover,
Idea also needed to provide instant and secure access to this data due to
mandatory regulations by various Auditing, Vigilance and Regulatory
authorities.
Newgen
provided the solution in form of OmniReports, an
Enterprise Report Management (ERM) platform that captures report output of
business applications and converts them into compressed digital files to be
archived, indexed, accessed and searched electronically.
Using OmniReports, the customer bills report can be
compressed to one-tenth the original size, archived and viewed online by
users across Idea offices in India. The compression would
also allow IUC reports of up to 12 months to be maintained online without
the need for storing the data in expensive tape drives. The reports data,
available online, can be indexed on different parameters to quickly access
the relevant information.
OmniReports also facilitates reports
distribution through different mediums like Web, CD and printed format. The
implementation would be able to generate Web-based reports with appropriate
users and group access at circle levels.
In
addition to implementing OmniReports, Newgen will
also develop custom tools and utilities for generating and storing reports.
These include a customization utility for inter-carrier billing; report
design for different streams & switches/ inputs; along with police investigations and duplicate
statements.
Design
for usage details, using pre-defined converters, with input from multiple
sources for all circles and stream; utility for storing bill images with
inputs in ASCII/ TXT
format; and converters for different report types from various switches,
will also form a part of custom tools and utilities from Newgen.
