GIPCL Powers Ahead with Newgen ECM solution

The state-owned Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) recently placed an order for enterprise-wide implementation of Newgen OmniDocs? and its integration with SAP. The order is for four departments of GIPCL: Electrical, Purchase and Stores, Mechanical, Instrumentation. The integration would cover Purchase, Materials Management and Finance modules of SAP.

GIPCL is looking at implementing an enterprise-grade content and document management system for centralized management of files and documents, and automate file movement across its various offices spread over two cities, Baroda and Mangrol. Using the solution, GIPCL plans to completely manage the entire document life cycle, efficiently archive, store, and quickly retrieve files and quickly track file movement. In addition, GIPCL also plans to integrate the solution with already deployed SAP.

Newgen solution would comprise OmniDocs, OmniScan, OmniAcquire, Whitehall and SAP connectors. The solution would also involve image-enabling SAP, thereby enabling users to view scanned document images from within the SAP environment. Also, information can be directly pushed into DMS from SAP.

GIPCL was incorporated in 1985 as Public Limited company under the auspices of Government of Gujarat. The company is engaged in business of generation of Electrical Power.
