Newgen participated in the CII 12th Insurance Summit 2009. In order to take stock of the developments in the Insurance domain, deliberate the key issues and challenges that are hampering the growth of the sector and to develop a road map for the future, CII organized the 12th Insurance Summit on 18th September 2009, at the Regal Room, Hotel Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
CII's 12th Insurance Summit took the year 2009 as a special significant year as 2009 marks the completion of a decade since liberalization of the insurance industry in the year 1999. There were a number of experts from the Insurance sector that came together and tried to understand, how the business solutions for the new product introduction, policy administration, claims processing, distribution and channel management, etc. can help and enhance the overall growth of an organization.
12th Annual Asian Shared Services and Outsourcing Week
The 12th Annual Asian Shared Services and Outsourcing Week were organized at The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Singapore on 8th September 2009. Newgen actively participated in this event. The main objective of the event was to highlight the services that have transformed and grown by achieving the latest developments in Finance, HR and IT shared services. The event also provided answers to the queries on outsourcing and future trends on near- and off-shoring.

Leading Banks of Bangladesh uses Electronic Fund Transfer System by Newgen
Newgen Software Technologies Limited introduced the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system to Bangladesh for the issuance of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) coded chequebooks used by the banks.
Newgen, a global market leader in the field of Business Process Management (BPM) and Document Management System (DMS) introduced the EFT system at one of the road shows organized for the purpose.
Newgen, a Delhi-based software company and a local firm Tech Valley Computers Limited organized the program. Senior Vice President of Newgen, stated that every business process benefits from the facility of automated payment processes. Moreover, the expenses are reduced and the business process is governed by an overall increase in the operational efficiency.
Mr. Jain also added "The EFT can clear up many problems faced by the banks while processing the cheques." The statement was further acknowledged by the fact that the accounts-payable payment process is often tedious and time-consuming. It is mostly a paper-based system resulting in costly process cycles for the employees, managers and accounts payable personnel.
Mr. Jain continued by emphasizing that Newgen has already introduced EFT in many banks at different geographical locations. For example, India, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. Some of the banks in Ghana and Kenya are also in the pipeline of accepting the EFT system.
"Once implemented, the system will add value to the operational aspect of the banks. During one of the presentations, " Mr. Sajal Dubey, an Engagement Manager at Newgen, said that EFT uses computers and electronic technology as a substitute for all the paper-based transactions.
"EFT is a system of directly transferring the money from one bank account to the other without any paper money changing hands." The presenter also highlighted the benefits of the EFT system. The benefits include the maker-checker concept used at every stage, real-time integration with the banking application, maintenance of the standing instruction, better and faster response to the customer queries and a comprehensive audit trail system.

2nd Banking, Finance and Technology Forum
The 2nd Banking, Finance and Technology Forum were recently organized at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 18th-19th June 2009. The main theme of the forum was Going Global - International Competitiveness through Technology. The main objectives of the forum were to identify and organize different opinions and ideas with respect to the banking and insurance sector.

Nasscom BPO Strategy Summit 2009
The definitive event of the BPO industry – the annual NASSCOM BPO Strategy Summit – was recently organized in India’s silicon valley, Bangalore. The summit witnessed participation from highly recognized and admired thought leaders and industry luminaries from reputed IT, ITes and BPO companies.

Fifth India Innovation Summit 2009 by CII
The Fifth India Innovation Summit 2009 was recently organized in Bangalore. The summit aimed to observe the Asian Economy and examine the preparedness of India Inc. in challenging times and its ability to leverage on the current market opportunities innovatively.
The summit witnessed presence of several leading industry figures and entrepreneurs. As a panel member of the discussion on targeted IT investments for business innovation, Mr. Diwakar Nigam – MD, Newgen Software, said:

TiE Bridges - A Corporate Partnership Opportunity
TiE on 17 June organized a unique event titled, TiE Bridges - A Corporate Partnership Opportunity – at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The event presented forum to connect early stage innovators with potential investors and corporate partners. It provided a platform for investors and corporate partners to familiarize themselves with product and technology development among some of the leading early growth companies in India.
