Warm welcome to all our valued customers. This special edition of our newsletter features the release of significant versions of our BPM suite of products. OmniFlowTM 7.1 has major changes both on the outside as well as inside. It sports an intuitive and sleek interface, which makes it a delightful experience for users. On the other hand, with OmniFlowTM Simulator 2.0, Synchronous Processing and Queue Filtering features, OmniFlowTM7.1 also delivers a rock-solid performance.
OmniDocsTM6.0 just got better with tighter security, better compliance capabilities and the unique Maker-Checker functionality. The launch of OmniOMSTM, the output management system, introduces a product that enables managing enterprise output in a seamless, cost-effective manner and makes a positive impact on the bottomline. Feature Product - OmniFlow
The first two quarters witnessed Newgen release its much-awaited upgrades to flagship products, OmniFlowTM and OmniDocsTM; launch of a new product OmniOMSTM; and latest OmniReportsTM release.
Newgen OmniFlowTM 7.1: A Great Leap Forward in Business Process Management
Newgen Software recently launched OmniFlowTM 7.1, the latest version of OmniFlowTM, its flagship BPM product. Based on extensive market research and customer surveys, OmniFlowTM 7.1 has several new features such as Synchronous Processing Server, Queue Filtering, quicker navigation, intuitive user interfaces, simpler setup, OmniFlow Simulator 2.0 and improved Form Builder.
The new features address both immediate and emerging needs of customers and will help them expedite process deployment at lower costs and risks, while improving the process efficiency. In addition, the increased focus on interactivity enhances user experience and improves productivity and efficiency.
Synchronous processing enables immediate delivery of the workitem to the next workstep, thereby removing bottlenecks. Queue Filtering, though present in previous versions, now provides greater control to the users by enabling them to apply filters to process and system variables. This helps reduce the process complexity. Quicker navigation and intuitive user interface improve user efficiency and accuracy. The two views, Embedded and Exception, elegantly capture a lot of information, whereas the Classic view provides the legacy view. The self-guiding setup makes it extremely easy to install OmniFlowTM 7.1.
In addition, OmniFlow Simulator 2.0 provides better process visualization and risk mitigation for yet-to-be-deployed processes. This helps to forecast and fine-tune the process.

Newgen Launches Output Management System, OmniOMSTM
With the release of its much-awaited Output Management System, OmniOMSTM, Newgen has brought to market a one-stop solution for managing enterprise output in a seamless, cost-effective manner that impacts both top line and bottom line of businesses. OmniOMSTM is designed to provide centralized control for managing the organization’s output by consolidating the data from different applications running on diverse platforms throughout the extended enterprise.
Newgen OmniOMSTM minimizes output-generation costs, reduces processing and retrieval costs and eliminates distribution costs. It also provides superior customer service through consolidated information, enhanced user productivity and optimized output processes. Rapid ROI is achieved through savings on printing and distribution costs.
OmniDocs 6.0 released
Newgen Software announced the launch of the latest version of its Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution, OmniDocsTM 6.0. It offers enhanced security features, improved scalability and manageability and better compliance to technology and industry standards.
The newly introduced Maker Checker feature is used for dual authorization in administrative operations, thereby fully ensuring the validity of the transaction. In addition, powerful password-configuration policies, enhanced audit trail and last-login-detail greatly improve security.
OmniDocsTM 6.0 fully supports industry-standard platforms, database and application servers. For example,
application servers such as Weblogic, Oracle 10g and IBM WebSphere; database such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Oracle 10g; and operating systems such as Windows, Solaris and Linux.
OmniDocsTM 6.0 is geared to manage the ever-increasing content volumes and drive the performance improvements for clients across industries. Improved scalability and performance is provided through support for load balancing, clustering and fail-over along with innovative caching, pre-fetching, replication and synchronization features.
OmniReports 4.1 now available
Newgen announced a significant upgrade to its enterprise report management platform, OmniReportsTM. The latest release, OmniReportsTM 4.1, offers better search, easier compliance and consistent reporting amid changing requirements, in addition to other unique features. Some of the features include:
- Dynamic information fetching from the database for marked zones. This helps companies automatically manage reports that need real-time customer information
- Linked report definition and design support enables easy management of similar reports across multiple departments of the company
- Support for rule-based Annexures/Images
- Multi-search support helps companies quickly answer queries from investigating agencies, thereby ensuring better compliance management
- Layout versioning helps maintain multiple versions of reports, often a mandatory requirement

Bank Sohar Adopts Newgen DMS solution to Manage Fast Growth
Bank Sohar, committed to become one of Oman's leading banks, recently choose Newgen's Document Management Solution for efficiently managing the volume of documentation due to a rapidly increasing customer base. Bank Sohar has leveraged IT extensively to build and deliver solutions to its valued customers.
Newgen proposed an OmniDocs-based DMS solution, which will integrate with Finacle (Core and CRM/LOS modules), the core banking solution at the bank. The DMS solution would store and manage Account Opening related documents of customers. As the solution is integrated with Finacle, users at the bank would be able to seamlessly access documents through Finacle interface.
The solution would enable faster processing of Account Opening applications. Storing documents in the electronic form would also enable the bank to save document storage, retrieval and maintenance costs.
The solution will be deployed centrally. Initially five branches will be part of the system with provision of extending the solution to 50 branches.
Bank Sohar commits itself to changing the landscape of banking by delivering its products and services with convenience and unfailing integrity. The bank operates in Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury Services domains. It lays special emphasis on offering services to small and medium enterprises.
Newgen Bags its First Order in Vietnam
Continuing with its impressive growth in the South East Asia region, Newgen forayed into yet another high-growth market, Vietnam. TienPhong Bank chose Newgen solution for managing its customers’ and bank records and documents.
A newly established bank, TienPhong Bank expects to attract a large number of customers for availing its products and services. By using Newgen solution, based on OmniDocsTM and OmniScanTM, the bank intends to build efficiencies in its services right from the start, leading to superior customer service. The solution would be used across various lines of businesses of the bank, especially Loan Processing, to enable faster processing and informed decision making. The solution will also help the bank to align all bank records across various lines of business of the bank in a digital archive.
Headquartered in Hanoi, the bank plans to open five branches in 2008 throughout Vietnam. The bank has recently received the establishment and operation permit from the State Bank of Vietnam. TienPhong Bank is the first bank to implement ISO 9001:2000 quality control standards right from the start, to ensure effective operations, minimize operation and network risks, improve productivity and cut costs.
Financial Technologies Chooses Newgen OmniFlowTM for Enterprise-wide Implementation
Financial Technologies (India) Limited is the technology provider and holding company of other companies of the group. It was looking for a proven and scalable BPM and workflow solution. After closely evaluating various vendors, the company decided to opt for Newgen’s OmniFlow-based BPM solution.
Financial Technologies has aggressive expansion plans and would use the BPM solution across its 14 group companies. The solution will have a global footprint and will be used for end-to-end automation of processes such as Customer Acquisition, Employee Expense Management, Travel Processes, etc. The BPM solution would be on top of Newgen’s existing DMS implementation at the company.

Newgen Software Reaches out to Albania: To Implement BPM Solution at American Bank of Albania
American Bank of Albania (ABA), the leading financial institution in Albania, decided to implement Newgen’s BPM and DM solution to efficiently manage its aggressive growth plans.
ABA plans to automate critical processes such as Accounts Opening, Funds Transfer and Loans Processing. Newgen solution includes implementing its BPM suite comprising OmniFlowTM, OmniDocsTM and OmniScanTM. The solution would seamlessly integrate with Flexcube, the core banking solution at ABA.
Newgen won this order amidst stiff competition from the international giants in BPM and DM space. What tipped the balance in Newgen’s favor was the customized, mid-sized solution offering, which ABA felt was best suited to its requirements.
With Newgen solution, the bank expects shortened customer service time, agility in responding to market changes, better-managed and tracked processes, effective compliance, and improved productivity of employees. With aggressive expansion plans, the bank intends to extend the BPM solution to cover other business processes.
American Bank of Albania was recently named the best bank in Albania by the Bankers Magazine. ABA recently merged with Banca Italo-Albanese to form the second banking institution in Albania. It is a part of the international Italian banking group “Intesa Sanpaolo.” Currently, it servers over 127,500 customers through 34 branches in Albania and Greece.
Newgen Solution to Automate Examination Marking System for Cambridge Assessment
Newgen Software, with its proven expertise in imaging technology, procured an order through Infosys Technologies for providing the solution to automate the examination marking system for Cambridge Assessment.
Cambridge Assessment, which already had a system in place for partial extraction of answers from the answer sheets, was facing difficulty in successfully extracting the short, handwritten answers, which needed expert Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) capabilities.
With Newgen solution, Cambridge Assessment expects to reduce time, effort and cost on assessing examination answers.
The Cambridge Assessment Group is Europe's largest assessment agency. It incorporates three exam boards and it is a department of the University of Cambridge.
Newgen Solution for Outsourced Bonds Processing for RTBA, Australia
Newgen Software bagged an order for providing OmniFlow-based BPM solution for processing of bonds managed by Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA) in the state of Victoria, Australia. Newgen Software got this order through iGATE, who successfully submitted its bid with Newgen’s OmniFlow as the application platform.
The solution had to meet strict SLAs set down by RTBA. This requires correct processing of transactions in minimum time. Also, meeting strict deadlines, reconciliation and management too were critical areas for the solution.
The solution is designed with a simple user interface, using which the operators answer some simple questions by simultaneously viewing the document images on their screens. The responses are compiled and transactions are processed accordingly at the backend. In addition to providing the high scalability for continually increasing number of transactions of RTBA, the Newgen solution also has a powerful reporting module for monitoring and reconciliation.
Residential Tenancies Bond Authority is a body under Department of Justice, Government of Victoria. Based in Melbourne, it is involved in managing Rental bonds in the Victoria state.

Newgen Software Wins ‘Emerging India Award 2008’
Newgen Software recently won the prestigious Emerging India Award. The awards honor the best small and medium enterprises in India. Newgen was conferred the award in the “Information Technology, Communications and Entertainment (ICE) & IT enabled Services (ITeS)” category. The award was felicitated in a grand ceremony in London by the Honorable Commerce Minister, Kamalnath and steel tycoon, L N Mittal to Mr. Diwakar Nigam- MD, Newgen Software.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nigam, said “I am proud to accept this award on behalf of the entire Newgen family. The Emerging India Awards are considered India’s biggest business awards. The event was conducted for the fourth year in a row. The multi-stage evaluation and selection process is very rigorous and spread over three months, with CRISIL undertaking the complete research and analysis for judging the winners.
Newgen Software- A Winner at the Inaugural ‘The World is Open’ Awards
Skoch Consultancy Services, in collaboration with Red Hat India, awarded Newgen Software as the winner of “The World is Open” awards for implementation of its state-of-the-art BPM solution, at Deutsche Bank. The awards, in their first year, received a large number of nominations from various private and government IT companies totaling 163. The projects were nominated under various categories, which included Governance, Banking, Financial Services, Education, Infrastructure, Telecom and Healthcare amongst others. Newgen won the award in Banking category.
The awards are presented to recognize adoption of open source technologies or components in implementing enterprise-grade solutions, which require top-line robustness, security and scalability. The winners were decided based on several parameters, such as effectiveness in delivering project objectives, open standards, relevance, innovation, scalability and flexibility of the solution.

Can you provide a brief on your educational background and work experience?
I completed my MCA from HBTI Kanpur, and joined Newgen in Jan 1996 as a Software Engineer Trainee. I have been with the company ever since. It’s been more than 12-years association with Newgen.
Which are the products you have worked closely on?
I have been involved in the development of most of the Newgen products. I started my career with a product called Newgen Gold Report (NGR), which was later rechristened as OmniReportsTM. Subsequently, with my team, I have worked closely on a number of products such as OmniFlowTM, OmniScanTM, Smart StatementsTM, OmniOMSTM, OmniComplianceTM and Invoice Processing. Currently, we are involved in developing OmniFlow’s new version and also enriching functionality of OmniExtractTM.
What challenges you faced in developing Newgen's flagship products?
Developing a successful software product – one that serves multiple industries (Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Business Process Outsourcing, Government, Airlines, etc.); supports multiple operating systems, databases and application servers; and is integrated with diverse third-party systems –is a humungous challenge. Add to that support for multiple languages to enable deployment across different geographies and providing support for multiple versions of the products for various clients, the challenge increases multifold.
Therefore, all in all, product development is a highly complex task as compared to a one-off client project. However, it is particularly this type of challenge that thrills and motivates me to go on.
What, in your view, is the Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of Newgen products vis-à-vis the competitors?
The USP of Newgen products is availability on all platforms at competitively lower price and rapid implementation. Newgen products and solutions have a proven track record in reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for customer organizations. The functionalities, which need to be customized by System Integrators, are available out-of-the-box in Newgen’s products.
How do you see the Newgen products evolving in future?
Our main focus is to reduce the gap between IT and operations and reduce the overall implementation time. Customer must obtain faster and better returns on their investments, and this will always be the central idea of our pursuits in developing cutting-edge, new generation product
