Can you provide a brief on your educational background and work experience?

I completed my MCA from HBTI Kanpur, and joined Newgen in Jan 1996 as a Software Engineer Trainee. I have been with the company ever since. It’s been more than 12-years association with Newgen.

Which are the products you have worked closely on?

I have been involved in the development of most of the Newgen products. I started my career with a product called Newgen Gold Report (NGR), which was later rechristened as OmniReportsTM. Subsequently, with my team, I have worked closely on a number of products such as OmniFlowTM, OmniScanTM, Smart StatementsTM, OmniOMSTM, OmniComplianceTM and Invoice Processing. Currently, we are involved in developing OmniFlow’s new version and also enriching functionality of OmniExtractTM.

What challenges you faced in developing Newgen's flagship products?

Developing a successful software product – one that serves multiple industries (Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Business Process Outsourcing, Government, Airlines, etc.); supports multiple operating systems, databases and application servers; and is integrated with diverse third-party systems –is a humungous challenge. Add to that support for multiple languages to enable deployment across different geographies and providing support for multiple versions of the products for various clients, the challenge increases multifold.

Therefore, all in all, product development is a highly complex task as compared to a one-off client project. However, it is particularly this type of challenge that thrills and motivates me to go on.

What, in your view, is the Unique Selling Proposition (USP) of Newgen products vis-à-vis the competitors?

The USP of Newgen products is availability on all platforms at competitively lower price and rapid implementation. Newgen products and solutions have a proven track record in reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for customer organizations. The functionalities, which need to be customized by System Integrators, are available out-of-the-box in Newgen’s products.

How do you see the Newgen products evolving in future?

Our main focus is to reduce the gap between IT and operations and reduce the overall implementation time. Customer must obtain faster and better returns on their investments, and this will always be the central idea of our pursuits in developing cutting-edge, new generation product
