Loving with an open heart,
Helping others selflessly,
Appreciating the beauty around us,
Taking out time to look within our hearts,
Taking pleasure in the simplest of things……
This is life!!!!
: Me
We often complicate our lives so much that we forget to take pleasure in the basic things that we used to laugh and giggle upon when we were kids…..This time we chose to teach our kids to enjoy simple things in life…This time we revisited our childhood…
Well, the theme for Sadbhavna session this month continued to be “Art and Craft”, but in a different form altogether. Finger print painting….paper boats…paper houses ….Do I hear the bells ringing?? Well, the sessions kick-started with bananas and Nimbu Pani being served to the kids…Next we taught the kids to make paper boats (traditional Japanese Style), houses, butterflies and dogs. It felt great to see the kids not only learning but also enjoying what they were doing. That is not all!!! This time we had with us Mrs. Somana Agarwal, who taught the kids finger painting.
While the young ones enjoyed their painting session, our volunteers spent time with the older children to prepare them for the new academic session. With the summer vacations getting over, there were a lot of preparations to be done. Those who had already started going to school told us about the various subjects being taught. Also, we listed down the important things like school dresses, books, bags, stationary etc to be bought for the children. Finally, we were served lunch and that brought us to the end of another beautiful afternoon with the kids.
Shooting Star: Jatin, the notorious 5 year old finally settled down with the paper craft and finger painting activities. Not only he enjoyed the activities, but also showed a keen interest in learning more. His work was the best in the lot and we gave him a chocolate for being a good boy this time & performing well.
