The Sadbhavna
newsletter has had a good start and has to some extent succeeded in
creating awareness about Sadbhavna and its underlying mission. We
believe that the society benefits when children become productive,
engaged citizens of tomorrow. Also, investing in the healthy
development of children implies investing in a brighter future for
the world at large. If you share our hopes and dreams for a better
tomorrow for our society and desire to make a difference and touch
the lives of these children we once again welcome you to join us at
Sadbhavna.

|
At Sadbhavna we seek to aggregate our talents, energy and dedication
to contribute towards a more prosperous tomorrow and strive to make
a bigger difference with each passing day. At the last session of
Sadbhavna held on the 14th of July 2007, volunteers could be found
whole-heartedly involved in coaching and mentoring the children.
With this sort of response we believe that working together in
friendship and responsibility, and fully utilizing our individual as
well as collective resources, Sadbhavna can make a real difference.

The session turned out to be extremely interactive, with children
showing tremendous initiative. A number of them walked up to the
stage on their own and some of them needed a bit of cajoling. Once
on stage, all inhibitions were gone, they introduced themselves,
recited poems, told stories, sang and performed dance. The sincere
efforts of Sadbhavna volunteers were reflected in the change in
attitudes and confidence levels of the children in such a short span
of time. Chocolates were distributed, as token gift, among the
children.
Sadbhavna once again
acknowledged the excellent performance of children in academics in
their schools by giving them certificates. Mrs. Meenakshi Jain, wife
of Mr. Punit Jain, Senior VP Sales, presented the certificates to
the children. Finally the children, volunteers and guests sat
together to enjoy a special lunch prepared for the day.

A Ray of Hope
Jeevan, aged 15
years, is the resident of a village in Western Uttar Pradesh. He
belongs to a very poor landless family. His father, Guru Das Gupta
earns a living working as a gardener with Newgen (CO) and Sanjeevani.
Literacy in his village is almost nil. Jeevan is different from the
rest, he wants to do well in school and pick up a professional
course later.
A year back, when
Jeevan came to Delhi to study, he was encouraged to join Sadbhavna.
At Sadbhavna, he was counselled to develop confidence in himself and
was encouraged to fructify his dreams in real life. Jeevan is
presently studying in the 6th standard in a government run school in
R.K Puram. He has stood first in a class of forty students for
the last academic session. Despite, excelling in academics, he
still finds time to help his father with part-time gardening jobs.
With the support of
its devoted volunteers, Sadbhavna plans to help Jeevan pursue, and
eventually complete, his education to become a professional. He is a
promising child; confident of making his dreams come true. He is
bright and looks forward to even brighter days!
If you wish to make a
contribution you can join the monthly sessions of Sadbhavna, or
contribute to the Sadbhavna fund.
