At Sadbhavna it is our conviction that good education for children is indispensable in attaining socioeconomic development. Hence, we make our best efforts to identify their weak areas and help them improve by providing guidance using one-to-one interaction mode.
Moving one step ahead, one of our volunteers Mrs. Meenakkshi Jain, has taken over the responsibility of coaching Jeevan and Tushar, two promising kids from Sadbhavna.

Mrs. Neena Dixit (wife of Mr. Max Dixit), an active volunteer of Sadbhavna since its inception will be leaving for US soon. We appreciate her sincere efforts towards making the initiative a success. Mrs. Dixit has donated large number of books for the Sadbhavna library. |

The 11th August session of Sadbhavna began with the Independence Day celebrations in a mood of abandon and joy - no school bags, just festivities. Children sang patriotic songs and recited patriotic poems. The national spirit of gaiety, pride and hope for a better future was evident in the twinkling eyes of the children who were busy making tri-colored flags.
This celebration was with an objective to sensitize children about the eventful day and to inculcate values and knowledge about India’s independence. Also, children’s involvement in such events is to create awareness and make them feel part of the mainstream society, making them realize that they too can contribute and make a difference.
Our attempt is to teach children in an enjoyable and interesting way. Mrs. Sinha (wife of Mr. Pradeep Sinha) carried out a small experiment to demonstrate to the kids the process of germination of seeds. She had brought sprouted seeds that were later on planted by children in pots. Through the experiment the kids learnt about the conditions necessary for planting saplings. The activity also made them understand the importance of maintaining a green environment.
Since the festival of Rakshabandhan was approaching, the next activity involved teaching the kids how to make rakhis. As a token of their efforts each kid took home one rakhi and the rest of the rakhis were sold to the volunteers. The earnings from this activity went to the Sadbhavna fund, which is utilized for the welfare of the children.
Finally, the session closed with a special lunch for the children, volunteers and guests.

A Ray of Hope
Eighteen-year-old Ranjana, is the eldest of her five siblings. Her father, Ramshobhit works with Newgen as an electrician. When Sadbhavna started its activities, Ranjana started attending the sessions regularly. Her keen interest in studies led Sadbhavna to arrange a tutor for her to enable her to continue with her education. Ranjana would be appearing for the class 12th Open School exams in October 2007. She is a promising student.
Ranjana is also good at stitching. Sadbhavna identified her talent and in order to encourage her gave her the assignment of stitching aprons for Newgen’s canteen staff.
If you wish to make a contribution you can join the monthly sessions of Sadbhavna, or contribute to the Sadbhavna fund.
